What is WordPress SEO
WordPress is one of the most accessible website technologies available on the Internet today. It allows a person with a few technical skills to get started on a learning journey toward having a world class website. Then we need SEO. What is SEO and why do we need it?
SEO is a commonly misused term, which stands for Search Engine Optimization. Most people have heard of SEO already, if you own a website, you are probably getting spam emails from SEO companies selling their services. But what does it mean and why do you need it for your WordPress website?
Put simply, WordPress SEO is the art of making optimization tweaks and changes so that Google can more easily find and index the page on your WordPress site, and others can link to you site. The end result is more relevant traffic to your site.
Why you need WordPress SEO
You need SEO for your WordPress Website or Blog because without it, no-one will go to your site. If they can’t find it in Google how will they ever know your site exists. If your lucky, some people may stumble across your site but that will do little to get you up onto the first page of Google.
How to get started with WordPress SEO
None of this is rocket science, and there are plenty of reference sites on the Internet that will tell you how to do all this yourself. The first place to start is with the Title tags.
“This will make a big difference”
The title tag, the most important tag on your site. It tells search engines what your page is about. A common mistake people make with titles is they put their own name or brand in their. This is not needed and it confuses the search engines. Better to put info about the specific page in the title tag, since your name or brand has already been indexed by Google and you don’t need to confuse it any more.
